The FAVU Gallery renews its activities in the new premises of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the BUT in Údolní 244/53. Its program follows the activities of Galerie Aula, whose operation was suspended due to the relocation of the faculty in 2016. The Gallery returns to its original name, thereby more clearly declaring its mission and at the same time making the institution of which it is an integral part visible.
In 2004, the former Dean of FaVU BUT doc. Prof. PhDr. Petr Spielmann, dr.h.c. and her activities began with an exhibition of the legend of world videoart Woody Vašulka. At the turn of 2004 and 2005, Terry Haas, followed by a regular exhibition program, followed. Since 2005, a number of authorial and collective exhibitions have been held in the gallery, focusing on the presentation of young authors from the ranks of students, doctoral students and graduates not only from Czech but also from foreign art schools.
The FAVU Gallery is a lively communication space of the upcoming generation of artists and curators up to 35 years. It is an experimental laboratory of open dialogue with academia and the public. It offers facilities for professional presentation to young authors not only from students and doctoral students, but also from graduates of art schools. The basic mission of the FAVU Gallery is to present excellent results in the field of visual, audiovisual and sound production, promotion of promising authors and active participation in cultural life, the city, the region and the whole society.
