Galerie 207
Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague Prague, Czech Republic
Galerie 207 is a public gallery focusing on contemporary visual art and operating at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague since 2008. Gallery 207 has become a teaching program for art presentation, curatorship, art theory and critical writing since 2011.
In the ten years of existence, she has been in the curatorial and pedagogical role of eight personalities. (Marek Meduna and Milan Salák, Luděk Rathouský, Edith Jeřábková and Blanka Švédová, Václav Magid, Pavel Sterec and current curator and teacher of the subject Petr Krátký.)
In its character, the gallery continued the gallery model of the previous decade of small informal community spaces with frequent exhibitions, which in the case of Gallery 207 were defined for one week. After ten years of existence, 200 exhibitions took place.
The gallery is operated in cooperation with the curator and gallery team consisting of UMPRUM students. The curator and gallery team work together to design the program and to implement the exhibitions, their promotion, documentation and critical reflection.
The Gallery does not have a permanent space within the school building which changes periodically. The exhibition space of Gallery 207 returns to its parent studio no. The Gallery is an exact copy of the space in which it started.
