The AVU Gallery, housed in the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, was founded in 1993 as an exhibition space for students. Since then, the gallery has expanded its field of activity and is currently being set up by an external curator appointed for each academic year.
The GAVU program is based on a simple scheme that allows various forms of exhibitions and approaches. In the course of one academic year, the interviewed curator will usually prepare 7 three-week exhibitions, of which at least 3 will be selected from opencal among the AVU students, at least 1 will be created in cooperation with a teacher, graduate or doctoral student of the Academy of Fine Arts and the remaining exhibitions will be directed by a selected curator. Our goal is a multi-layered gallery program that will be part of Prague’s vibrant exhibition environment.
