Art Gallery “Academichna” started its work in 1998 within the department of Arts of the Ukrainian Academy of Banking.
Head of the Gallery – Candidate of Art, Associate Professor of the Department of Humanities Serhiy Pobozhii, Member of the National Union of Painters of Ukraine.
In 2001 the Gallery moved to the new premises in building 3 (room 413).
In 12 years the Gallery has become the cultural centre not only in the Institute but also in Sumy. It organized 75 exhibitions where the audience could see more than 1000 works of art. In 2003 the scientific catalogue of the Gallery was published, in 2008 a booklet was published. The Gallery is included in the reference book “Art Galleries of Ukraine”.
The Institute has its own art collection represented by artists from Ukraine, Croatia and Switzerland. The Gallery has close relations with the Lebedyn and the Sumy Art Museums, the Chechov Museum in Sumy, the Centre of modern art ”Soviart” in Kyiv, association of art galleries in Ukraine, Sumy region organization of the National Union of painters of Ukraine.
The purpose of the Gallery’s work is to develop our students and teachers, help them to acquire skills in art business and understand art in general. The acquired knowledge can help our students to form the cultural regional policy and to form art collections in banks and other financial institutions.
